Home Maintenance Monday 10/28/24: Ready or NOT, Trick-or-Treaters are Coming!

With less than 4 Days left until Halloween, NOW is a good time to make sure you are ready for the candy crazed rush of costumed children coming to your home. Regardless of whether you are passing out candy or NOT, chances are that a kiddo or two might try to knock on your door this Thursday. Luckily you still have a few days to prepare! You can start by walking outside this evening as it's getting dark to inspect your home's visibility and safety as it will be for any would-be Trick-Or-Treaters later this week! Here are some specific things to take note of when you're checking your property:

Outdoor Lighting- Check and replace any exterior lightbulbs that have gone out. If your home's access lacks visibility, it's not too late to add spooky moodlighting to help illuminate the path to your doorway, which can help ensure the safety of your guests.

Walkway Safety- Make sure your front walk is clean and clear of any leaf debris, this can help to reduce the added slipping hazard during those wetter Halloween adventures. Northwest weather forecasts are currently predicting a rainy Halloween evening so try to get those walkways cleared between the raindrops this week.

Steps- Make sure any steps are clear of obstructions and that all handrails are secure!

Landscaping- Now might be a good time to consider trimming back any bushes or trees that might be reducing your home's visibility.

Bonus Safety Tip! Skip the candles to light your pumpkins and try some battery operated LED lighting or glow sticks for some lower-hazard Jack-o-Lantern lighting ideas.

Have a safe, fun, and happy Halloween!
